Richmond Town 1-8 West Auckland (12/07/17)

After a good 1-1 draw against Blyth Spartans who are 3 divisions higher, west were looking to get a win over lower league opposition.

Within the first 5 minutes West had 3 great chances, A shot from Nathan Fisher was well blocked, a Michael Mckeown free kick was pushed for a corner and header came back of the post from a trailist.

On a quarter of a hour Anthony Bell picked the ball up in midfield and after winning a couple of tackles unleashed a 20yd shot which left the bar wobbling.

A minute later against the run of play Richmond played a long ball over the top for Scot Ryan to get on the end off and he fires across the West keeper to give them a shock 1-0 lead.

West’s equaliser came on 26 minutes when Nathan Fisher links up well with Darren Richardson and fires in. 1-1

Four minutes later Anthony Bell slides the ball to Nathan Fisher as the sun drops behind the clouds and Fisher gives West the lead. 1-2

West pressed from the Richmond re-start and Amar Purewal pounces in a loose ball on the edge of the box and beats the advancing keeper. 1-3

West through the had three in three minutes when Darren Richardson put the ball in the net but the referee signals for offside.

One of the best moves of the match came on 43 minutes when a smart one-two between Anthony Bell and Amar Purewal see’s the ball squared for Nathan Fisher to knock in. 1-4

The second half started as the first finished as West looked for more goals, it was 10 minutes old when a short corner was knocked in for the trailist to head goal bound, the keeper parries it and Ibby Hassan bangs it in. 1-5

Four minutes later Amar Purewal raced through on goal and slides the ball past the keeper for his second. 1-6

Man of the match Anthony Bell is next on the scoresheet when picks the ball up outside the box and drives in to leave the stranded keeper to watch the ball rattle the net. 1-7

Amar Purewal completes his hat trick and gets Wests eighth goal on 75 minutes when his shot beats the keeper. 1-8

Troon 1-3 West Auckland (15/07/17)

After a four hour bus journey to Troon in Scotland, delayed by 45mins due to a RTA, West arrived at 2.45pm, the 3 o’clock kick off was put forward to 3.30pm.

After a quick warm up West got into there stride and the game was only 10 minutes old when Amar Purewal ran through onto a ball from Denver Morris , he calmly slotted it past the keeper to give West the lead. 0-1

Five minutes later a almost identical move, this time it was Anthony Bell providing the through ball and Amar keeps his cool to get his second. 0-2

A rare mistake from the West defender when a back pass to the keeper is short, let’s Troon in but the shot goes across the goal and wide of the post.

West were inches away from a third when Nathan Fisher unleashed a 22yd shot, only to see it come back off the post as the keeper was well beaten.

It was Nathan Fisher again coming close when he picked the ball up on the halfway line from a throw in, after skipping past the defence he was pushed wide by the keeper and a tight-angled shot couldn’t find the net.

Just before the halftime whistle the Troon keeper pulled off a good point blank save after Darren Richardson’s fierce effort was goal bound.

Amar Purewal was looking to completed his second hat trick within a week and had a golden chance on 53 minutes when he got away from the defender, but this time his shot was well saved.

On the hour West got there third when Darren Holden took off down the right wing, squared the ball to Paul Conner who touched it to Nathan Fisher 25yds out. He drives past the defender and beats the keeper. 0-3

On 83 minutes Troon pulled one back when Scott Chatham scores the Seasiders only goal with a smart finish. 1-3.

West are at home this Saturday against Haddington Athletic in a pre-season friendly.
