West Auckland edged out neighbours Bishop in a tight Auckland derby that sprung in the life in the latter stages.
Before the goals Nathan Fisher had a shot well blocked then another effort turned against the post whilst West had Adam McHugh to thank for a couple of superb saves and Ross Colquhoun twice cleared off the line in the same attack.
The West breakthrough finally came in the 73rd minute when Adam Mitchell’s free kick was headed in by Amar Purewal.
Nathan Fisher seemed to have sealed the three points, breaking clear to slot home a 91st minute second however Bishop hit back instantly.
From a corner, Niall McGoldrick headed in off the far post to set up a nervy finish but West saw the game out to claim the local bragging rights.
