A Purewal hat trick helps West put 7 past Aycliffe.

Newton Aycliffe 0-7 West Auckland

A Purewal hat trick, a brace from Fisher and a thunderbolt apiece from Mitchell and Price saw West run riot over Aycliffe.

Heavy rain a hour before kick off gave the pitch a bit of zip and proved fruitful for Auckland as they dominated the game.

The first chance came on three minutes when Purewal was fouled by Arron Brown, Mitchell’s Free kick went straight to the keeper.

Two minutes later Portas had a strike, the keeper James Winter saves and parried to Purewal who in turn saw his shot rebound off Winter.

With just over a quarter of a hour gone Fisher was baring down on goal after Lewis Dodds cleverly put him through, this time his shot went the wrong side of the post.

Aycliffe crept into the game and had a golden chance to take the lead. Ian Ward played Arron Ramsbottom in and unleashed a shot only to see Shane Bland make a one handed save to push it out for a corner.

From the resulting corner, Aycliffe hit the bar and in the follow-up Bland made another good save from Thibault Charmey.

A good run from Stuart Thompson saw him beat three challenges only to see Bland block his effort. Aycliffe were to regret those missed chances.

With 33 minutes gone West did find the net, a cross from Tom Price wide down the right flank finds Purewal, who had the easy task of nodding the ball in from 8 yards.

Three minutes later the lead was doubled when Steven Snaith break’s forward at pace and finds Adam Mitchell who connects perfectly at the corner of the box to fire an unstoppable rapier into the far side netting.

Two more chances for West before half time, the first saw James Winter with a reflex stop from Purewal who had time to chest the ball down in the box before firing left footed from 8 yards and them Mitchell with another free kick which was fired into the wall and eventually cleared.

Aycliffe came out the second half looking to get back into the game and a important challenge by Snaith inside his own box denies the home team a shooting chance.

Purewal notches his second of the game. He seemed to be given all the time in the world to pick his spot, which he duly did, passing it across the keeper into the far corner from the right edge of the box with 7 minutes of the second half gone.

Two minutes later West make it four when Nathan Fisher capitalised on a defensive mistake and rounds the keeper and slots home into a empty net.

Aycliffe are now being torn open at will. Fisher again. This time his volley is parried back to him and he has the simplest task to knock it past the keeper to make it 5.

West make there first sub bringing on Denver Morris for Lewis Dodds, mindful that we have 3 games in 8 days.

And they’re firing them in from all angles now. Left back Thomas Price strides forward and unleashes from 20 yards. The keeper sees it all the way but has no chance to get near it making it 0-6 in a hour.

With the job done West make two more subs, Portas and Fisher come off and Doninger and home town lad Ben Wood come on for his first competitive action since breaking his ankle last season.

A speculative effort from Charmey from 25 yards sails over. It’s all Aycliffe have to show in this half for a while see’s the West Manager Gary Forrest on the sidelines, berating some loose play by his side. No slackness allowed, even at 0-6.

Make that 0-7 as Purewal hits his first hat trick of the season. A one-two with Doninger at the edge of the area and he’s clean through to slide home his third and West’s seventh.

In the closing minutes subs Doninger and Morris both had chances. Doninger’s shot was deflected and went out for a corner while Morris went close when he cut in from the corner but his shot is just over.

West’s next game is at the Wanted Stadium on Tuesday against Sunderland RCA with a 7.30pm kick off.
