Clifford Alderson 30 year award.
“Cliffy”,as we all know him tonight received a award for 30 years service to West Auckland Town FC.
The “Durham Country FA Awards 2018” night was held in the “Cathedral Suite” at the Emirates International Cricket Ground in Chester le Street.
Cliffy now 48 joined the committee when he was 18, this is after he was a regular around the ground since the age of 9 alone with his brother Lawrence.
His dad, Clifford senior, got him involved as he was a committee member for over 30 years as well. It must be in the blood.
In 2014 Cliffy became ill with “Von Hippell Lindau” disease which effects balance, walking and weakness of the limbs along with other side effects, however despite several operations this has not stopped him and now has become the teams match day Secretary.
You could count on one hand how many games Cliffy has missed in the last 30+ years, and those were due to being hospitalised after operations.
Well done and fully deserved Cliffy.
